Google - Consumers Researching Earlier and Booking Later

An interesting article in Travel Daily News discusses the study “The Traveler’s Road to Decision,” released by Google and OTX in 2009, which provides valuable insight into online travel research and purchasing trends.

Most people involved in the travel industry are aware that customers are booking later and later as they search for the best deals, however, Google suggests that the average research to booking time is now as long as 18 weeks, especially with leisure travelers. This has major implications for the way that holiday companies market their products online.
